Kyle Phillips’ extensive renovation of Menlo Country Club in 2014 completely reimagined the layout while honoring its original 1912 design by Scotsman Tom Nicoll. Phillips moved nearly 100,000 cubic yards of earth to create 14 new holes and redesign four others, incorporating more teeing options and modernized green complexes with run-off areas for strategic recovery shots.
The course now features bentgrass greens and a layout that seamlessly blends historical charm with contemporary playability. Phillips’ work ensures that Menlo remains a standout in California’s golf landscape, offering an engaging and visually stunning experience for its members.
