Tom Weiskopf’s 2018 redesign of Torrey Pines’ North Course transformed it into a more player-friendly experience. The number of bunkers was reduced from 60 to 42, green sizes were increased to 6,000 square feet on average, and Weiskopf added a signature drivable par-4 seventh hole for added fun.
While these changes made the course more accessible, they didn’t sacrifice strategy or variety. The greens now feature intricate contours, including standout surfaces at the par-3 12th and 15th holes. Ocean and canyon views rival those of the South Course, particularly on the par-4 16th, which climbs along the Pacific cliffs. The North Course stands as a dynamic counterpart to its championship sibling, offering a different yet equally rewarding golfing experience.
